A new name for Cootamundra Nursing Home

Cootamundra Nursing Home has changed its name to Adina Care, paying homage to the organisation’s close connection to the Adina Court independent living village.

At a time where the Royal Commission, legislative reform and public opinion are causing divisions in the aged care industry, the new name and brand has been introduced to ensure the organisation’s longevity well into the future.

The change reflects the organisation’s desire to continue forging strong relationships within the community and cement its reputation as a provider high quality, inclusive care.

Chair of the Cootamundra Health Care Cooperative, Jim Main, said the change was the result of close consultation with residents, staff and stakeholders and is a necessary step in safeguarding the future organisation.

“The aged care sector in Australia is constantly evolving and so too is the terminology we use,” he said.

“There are growing negative connotations around the term ‘nursing home’ and we wanted to move away from that wording to ensure we can continue to meet the needs of our residents, both now and into the future.

“Ultimately, what this new name represents is that we are more than just a residential aged care provider. We are a warm and welcoming community where residents can receive the care they require and everyone, residents and staff alike, can feel at home,” he said.

The rebrand promises to have ramifications that reach far beyond the four walls of Adina Care. It will help to build an identity that adequately reflects the organisation’s commitment, passion and professionalism within the aged care industry, and is a crucial step in establishing Adina Care as an employer of choice in the region.

“To ensure we can continue to offer the best possible services to our community, we need to continue to attract and retain experienced and passionate staff. We are confident that this change will help us to achieve this,” added Mr Main.

“Not all change is easy, but we believe positive change is for the best and we hope that the community joins us on this journey and helps us to establish Adina Care as a brand at the forefront of aged care.”
