FAQ’s

What is Adina Care?

Adina Care is a not-for-profit community organisation providing residential aged care and expanding into Home Care Package services for people living in Cootamundra and surrounding areas.

We focus on meaningful relationships, strong clinical care, and a home-like environment where people feel known, safe, and respected.

Our community includes older people from many cultural backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, LGBTQIA+ seniors, and people living in rural and remote areas.

We currently provide residential aged care with 24/7 nursing support, and we are in the process of establishing Home Care Package services for people who wish to stay in their own homes.

Residential care includes support with daily living, clinical care, dementia care, respite, allied health access, meals, activities, and community engagement.

Here’s the usual sign: everyday tasks start to feel harder than they used to.

That might include managing medications, cooking, showering safely, or needing help more often than family or friends can provide.

A good first step is talking with someone who understands your situation—your doctor, a family member, or a trusted support person.

You can also speak with My Aged Care or request an ACAT assessment to understand what supports you may be eligible for.

An ACAT assessment is a free evaluation done by a health professional trained in aged care needs.
They talk with you about your health, lifestyle, and what kind of support would help you live safely and comfortably.

You’re welcome to have a family member, friend, or carer with you.
If you agree, your doctor can share medical information with the assessor.

Yes. Respite is short-term care in our residential home. People use respite for different reasons—for example:

  • Giving a carer a break

  • Recovering after an illness

  • Trying out residential care before making a long-term decision

  • Temporary support during emergencies

Government-subsidised respite requires an ACAT assessment, and places are usually booked in advance. You’re welcome to contact us to check availability.

Absolutely. We encourage families to visit, walk through the home, and get a feel for the environment and the care team.

You can book a tour by contacting our main office on (02 69423511] or by emailing info@adinacare.com.au.

Accommodation costs are set according to government guidelines. You can choose to pay through:

  • a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)
  • a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
  • or a mix of both

We can walk you through the payment options, eligibility, and what financial support may be available depending on your income assessment.

We hold ourselves to high expectations—both clinically and culturally.

Residential homes in Australia must meet the Aged Care Quality Standards and undergo regular assessments and unannounced audits.

Adina Care maintains strong clinical governance, mandatory training, and a commitment to safe, person-centred practice.

A Registered Nurse is rostered 24/7 to support residents at all times.

Every resident has different needs, so care plans are built around the person—not around a checklist.
This includes:

  • day-to-day support (showering, dressing, meals, continence care)
  • clinical care
  • social and cultural interests
  • preferred routines
  • family involvement
  • activities that matter to you

We work closely with residents and their families to keep life meaningful and familiar.

Moving into care doesn’t mean losing your relationships.
Family, friends, carers, and community groups are welcome in the home.

They can stay involved in your care, help with outings, join activities, or simply visit as often as they like.

If loved ones need support in their caring role, they can also connect with Carers Australia on 1800 242 636.

Adina Care is building a model that allows residents access to enhanced lifestyle and comfort options where possible.

These may include upgraded hospitality services, specialised activities, or additional amenities.

Availability will depend on demand and evolving service development—please speak with our team if you’re interested
